This image was posted in  connection with  a Phoenix  Mars Lander news briefing
on June 20, 2008.   While  digging trenches  the Phoenix Lander  uncovered ICE,
the  white substance  in the photo, which is believed to be part of the Martian

of NASA.  Project management of the mission is by NASA's Jet Propulsion
